Happy Hair

If you haven't been keeping up with me on Instagram you've been missing out on my great hair days. I'm natural and I love it! When I first went natural I was a little scared, but it's working out for me. My hair color is... Different to say the least. Sometimes it looks orange, reddish or brown and black. However, I don't hate it! I've had many hair colors in my life time, you name it I had it. I've had red, blue (turned green from a hair coloring fail), light brown, dark brown, black and now this...  Last week I made my first "puff." I was overly excited, I had some sort of a ponytail and Lord knows I missed it. Before I cut my hair I always wore a ponytail and it was my go to style. This puff is the quickest and easiest thing for me in the mornings.  What's your go to style? Tweet me a picture and (or) hashtag #FacedWithFashion on Instagram @fwfblog

Oscar Show Stoppers

Tonight is one of the most exciting nights in red carpet fashion history! Yes my loves, it's Oscar night. Many stars have walked the red carpet and these five dresses have stood out to not only me but to many in the world of fashion.

The first was Rita Ora in a dramatic custom layered navy blue Marchesa gown. YAS MAMA!

Second is Rosamund Pike rocking a stunning crimson red Givenchy embellished gown. The split showcasing the strappy red heel sets off the look.

Next, Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab. She looks gorgeous, young, and fresh in this golden ballroom gown. Slay Mama Lopez!

Yes Ms Scarlet Johanssen for this emerald green Versace gown! She is snatched for the GAWDS hunty! Gave me life, she did.

Last but certainly not the least, is Lupita Nyongo in this custom pearl Calvin Klein gown. Fashion Fun Fact: the dress is made up of 6,000 pearls. I must say that Lupita has shut down the game in this statement dress. If there was an Oscar in Slayology she would win hands down hunty!

I once was scared of my thighs

I recently learned that I love my thighs. I literally was sitting in my bed one day and was like: "ya know, I really love you girls." It almost brought me to tears when I had this moment. I've always wanted to dance even as a little girl but, never got the time until recently when I joined the Step team at my High school. I never realized how the team could help me love myself in a special kind of way. I normally would hate to dance in front of people but, now that I have no other choice but to dance, sweat and give my all 100% of the time I was forced to see me and love me.
I use to hate skirts and dresses, now I see myself looking for a good skirt whenever I go shopping. I once hated heels because I felt they made my legs too much of a focal point in some outfits, now you can't keep me out of them when the fit is right. I have reached a point in my life where I'm just happy to be me. It wasn't easy but, it wasn't impossible either. When did you find yourself loving the most hated part of your body? Tweet me @fwfblog and let me know, or if you haven't gotten there yet tell me what part of you, you dream of loving one day. I would LOVE to know how I could help.
Love you girls sooooo much, Jazzmine.

Faux Loc Love

During the winter season, many people have been popping up with faux locs. Including myself. This is one of many protective styles that can be worn to benefit your hair while locking in moisture. Brittle hair is a common misfortune during the dry and cold winter months. Many want to stop this from happening which is why they try protective styles. Faux Locs seem to be one of the most popular.

The process is long depending on the size And length of loc you want. I chose to do a medium size and because my sides are missing, that also cut down on the time as well. First, the hair needs to be braided with either braiding hair or with yarn. If you use braiding hair, it's logical to get the same color that you're using for your locs. If you're using yarn black or white is ideal. Me, being the out of the box person I am, I used pink yarn.

After all the hair is braided, next is to wrap the braid with Marley hair. The trick is to tightly wrap the hair down the braid and if you'd like, burn the ends. Then clip the yarn or braiding hair if it's still showing at the ends. Then you have a perfect faux loc.

As you can see, I didn't get them long. But, you can get them as long as you'd like. Now, be warned that the faux locs will be extremely tight during your first week. Mainly because of the braiding and wrapping on top of that. But after they loosen up, you'll really be able to style and wear them as you please.

Here's some other faux locs looks.

How To Shadow

I've been getting requests to help with eyeshadows and where to put them. Well, here you go Dolls!

You'll need:
-Shadow brush
-Blending brush
-Eye primer or concealer (they do the same thing)
-Your choice of eye shadows (my recommendation depicted below)

When picking which colors to wear and you're unsure always choose a safe one. I have dark brown eyes, a dark brown and a light brown with slight shimmer ways is safe for me. I do think that these shades will work for any eye color. BUT, experiment I could be wrong.

Below is how you should apply your shadows and how to blend as well. I know this may look a tad complicated but, practice makes perfect right?!!!!

NOTE: Before you put any products on your face make sure your face is clean and moisturized. In beauty it's mandatory to practice healthy skin care habits.  Also, before you apply your shadows apply your base (the primer/ concealer). That will set your shadows and keep them from creasing through out the day.

-Don't forget to tell me how you did and send me pictures at @fwfblog on Twitter and Instagram.

        Always with love, Jazzmine. 😘

The Winter Blue's

Hey Y'all!

Here in Chicago the winters are so unpredictable. Between the 2 feet of snow and unforgivable windchill dressing up becomes the last thing on our mind.

Recently I've really gotten into crop sweaters and scarfs! Not only do they keep you warm, but they are extremely fashionable as well. The crop sweaters can easily be mixed and matched with a cute pair of jeans, leggings or joggers of your choice. Throw on a cute pair of boots and you're complete!

Some of my favorite places to shop for these looks are Forever 21, H&M, Express and Charlotte Russe. They are all very much affordable as well.

Stay warm loves! And don't forget to reach out to me and Faced With Fashion on social media as well!
